Since it's September, it brought me back to growing up and my mother.

Every year, she would plant beautiful gold mums in the front flowerbed. I don't guess Moms ever realize the things that "us kids" recognize or see them do. Things that are embedded into our memories that we look back on fondly. It seems sometimes that we, as mothers, try to do so many special things to create wonderful memories for our children, and yet, it seems that the things that really make an impression are the things that were closest to our moms' hearts.

My mother has a fall birthday, loves the changing of the leaves and just all around likes fall. She never really says it...but I just know. It shows. She loves to sit on the porch with the crisp air and drink her coffee if she gets a chance. (which she doesn't often enough...she's too busy doing for everybody else!)

This year, I decided to pass that on! We planted Mums in our front flowerbeds and they make me smile. They bring me back to days of being a kid....and now I get to share that with my own children. It's a blessing! Never forget the little thing....they really might not be all that small!

I think that's great Deanna! What a fun Fall activity to do together--and you'll be able to enjoy them for a while too.
I was tempted to buy 2 fake mum pots because I'm so gardening challenged--not quite the same effect, huh?
I think it's true that the "big" deals are fun, but often it's the simple tasks that make lasting impressions.
How fun! I love fall and anthing that has to do with it!
It's funny, the older we get the more important the simple things are- like planting mums! I think it is neat how you remember your mom planting mums in the fall.
Ok, I think I spied a flamingo in a flower pot!
You did, Lacie! LOL
