So many people I know are into doing marathons. They train hard, work hard, and do it! I've always wanted to do a marathon, but never could do it just for myself. You see...MOST marathons are for runners! Yes....you can walk..but I'd feel like a weenie walking with all those runners out there working so much harder! For several years, I have wanted to be a part of the Avon Walk for a Cure. I wanted to do a marathon that had a cause...especially breast cancer. My grandma had breast cancer and survived, so it is close to my heart. It's scary that the possibility of a disease like this could be in anyone's future. My mom takes part in the Relay for Life, and I think that is wonderful! I think of all the things in the world, I have felt that helping others through volunteering and working for organizations is where my heart is. Whether it's children, disease, hunger or anything. I want to do it! I just don't know where to start! It's all very overwhelming! I was SO excited when I found out this year that FINALLY the Avon walk has a Houston event! I signed up almost right away...however...I did take the time to pray about it and really consider before. Over the next few months, I'll be getting ready for this weekend..doing fund raising and getting physically ready for walking 26.2 miles. (I'm not going for the full and a half this year...maybe next time) The event is April 12-13th and if anyone else would want to help out, walk for the cure, or donate, check it out!!!
